Adult Psychiatry

Community (Kilburn)

SHOs also cover ENT emergency clinic which is a good place to pick up ENT procedural and examination skills. Some clinics and surgeries are conducted at Ealing and CMH respectively

3 posts. Banded rota, every day is split in half, where morning and afternoon are in different places, from labour ward, to triage to clinic. Rotation includes long days once a week, 1:4 weekends, and 1:8 nights.

1 post. Banded. provides an excellent opportunity to learn about end of life care. Long days (till 8pm) once a week, with off site on-calls over night (1 in 4 - 1 in 5).

Palliative Care

St Luke's Hospice

Usually 3 posts available. 1 unbanded post with 4 months of CoE and 2 months in Acute Medicine following the standard shift pattern. CoE is generally a 9-5 job with 1 day per week on-call until 9pm with weekend night covers.

There are 7 clinical sessions per week (each session being half a day). The 3 remaining sessions comprise: 1 tutorial with your clinical supervisor, 1 self-directed learning session and 1 half day release to join your peers in the weekly VTS teaching programme on Thursday afternoons. There may be requirements to act as duty doctor for the GP particularly at ST3 level, participate in home visits as well as other activities however these vary practice to practice.
